This page will feature the water power projects I come across. So far-I only have one machine photographed and ready to post. This machine was built for...free-and it took less about 2 hours. Its been in constant service now for over 6 years-with minimal maintenance! The front bearing in the generator has been replaced once. As long as the creek runs-and there isnt too much ice-this puts out 30-40 watts 24 hours per day-not bad! Over 50 amp-hours per day-it would take a significant investment in solar panels to match it! This machine runs on about 12" of head. The dam was created naturally, when a tree blew down across the creek. The fellow who lived in the cabin near by figured if he just cut a notch in it with the chain saw, and nailed in an old squirrel cage fan from a furnace-it would work. The squirrel cage is belted to a surplus Amtek computer tape drive motor. These work great for generating 12 volts at low RPM-excellent for this sort of thing-excellent for windmills. You'll find these on those huge old mainframe computer tapedrives from years ago. I may have a couple extras-email me if interested, or look into some of the surplus catalogues that sell surplus electronics.
